ONE MEDICINE

ONE MEDICINE: SOUND HEALTH FOR ALL.

According to WHO, 'One Health' is an approach to designing and implementing programmes, policies, legislation and research in which multiple sectors communicate and work together to achieve better public health outcomes.

The concept of One Medicine evolved into One Health and it is imperatively the best approach to the rising challenges to global health. There has been an increasing concern for the One Health approach by global health organizations in recent times, this stems from the fact that humans, animals and the environment they both thrive in are inevitably interdependent on biological grounds. The health of humans, animals and the enviroment is unified naturally, the well-being or ill-helath of either (of the three) has a corresponding effect on the others directly or indirectly. Humans being the custodian of coordinated intelligence among these three should consider it an advantage as well as an obligation to ensure the welfare and well-being of all as the benefits to emanate from this are inexhaustible.
